Best Bread Makers

Looking for the perfect bread maker!

So, I’ve been on a bit of a deep dive into bread makers lately, trying to figure out which one would be perfect for my kitchen. Between reading reviews, scouring Amazon, and checking out all the specs, I’ve found a few machines that really stand out. I haven’t decided on “the one” just yet (there are so many options!), but I thought I’d share what I’ve found so far in case any of you are also thinking about dipping your toes into the world of homemade bread. Here’s a look at some top contenders, from high-end to budget-friendly.

High-End Bread Makers

Zojirushi BB-PDC20BA Home Bakery Virtuoso Plus
Price: Around $500
Rating: ★★★★★ (4.6/5 from 6,500+ reviews)

This one seems like a powerhouse! It’s got dual kneading blades and dual heaters for even baking—super fancy. A lot of reviewers rave about the consistency of the bread and the gluten-free option, which is nice. But, it’s definitely an investment, and I’m still deciding if I’ll bake often enough to justify the price.

Hamilton Beach 29890 Premium Dough & Bread Maker Machine
Price: Around $300
Rating: ★★★★☆ (4.2/5 from 100+ reviews)

This model caught my attention because it has 21 programmable settings, which include gluten-free and keto options, and even comes with an automatic fruit and nut dispenser! It’s compact and stainless steel, so it should fit well in most kitchens. The reviews are quite positive, although a few people mention that it takes some getting used to with all the settings.

Featuring advanced temperature control and an automatic fruit and nut dispenser, it caters to the artisanal baker. Mid-Range Bread Makers

KBS 17-in-1 Bread Maker
Price: Around $250 – There was a $50 coupon when I wrote this!!
Rating: ★★★★☆ (4.1/5 from 3,700+ reviews)

The KBS bread maker caught my eye because of its 17 different settings—way more than I’d ever use, but kind of nice to have. Plus, the automatic fruit and nut dispenser seems like a fun feature (not that I’m tossing nuts into every loaf, but hey, options!). The reviews are mostly positive, but some mention that it can be a bit bulky.

Cuisinart Bread Maker
Price: Around $140
Rating: ★★★★☆ (4.3/5 from 1,400+ reviews)

Cuisinart is a solid brand, and this model seems pretty reliable. It’s not too big, has 12 settings, and comes with crust options, which is cool. The reviews are pretty solid, but I did notice a couple of people mentioning that it doesn’t always handle whole wheat dough as well as white bread. Something to think about.

West Bend 47413 Hi-Rise Bread Maker
Price: Around $150
Rating: ★★★★☆ (4.3/5 from 2,100+ reviews)

This one has dual kneading blades, like the Zojirushi, but at a lower price point. It also bakes a massive 3-pound loaf, which is awesome if you have a big family or, like me, you just really like bread. Still, I’m wondering if I need all that bread or if a smaller loaf might be more practical.

Elite Gourmet Maxi-Matic Bread Maker
Price: Around $90
Rating: ★★★★☆ (4.2/5 from 7,700+ reviews)

This model has 19 settings—surprisingly more than some of the more expensive machines! It’s small and compact, which I like since I’m not sure I want a bread maker taking over my entire counter. Still thinking about whether I’ll use all 19 settings, but the price point is tempting.

Entry-Level Bread Makers

LIVINGBasics Bread Maker
Price: Around $100
Rating: ★★★★☆ (3.9/5 from 100+ reviews)

This one seems like another no-frills option that’ll do the trick if you’re just looking to make simple loaves. It’s a bit more compact than some of the others, which is nice for small spaces. But I’m still on the fence about whether I’d want something with a few more features.

MasterChef Digital Bread Maker
Price: Around $85
Rating: ★★★★☆ (4.3/5 from 500+ reviews)

This MasterChef model looks pretty straightforward and beginner-friendly, which is appealing if you’re just starting out (like me). It’s got 19 settings, and reviewers say it’s easy to clean, which is always a bonus. Still, I’m wondering if I’ll outgrow it quickly.

So, that’s where I’m at! There are some pretty solid options across all price ranges, and each one has its pros and cons. I’m still weighing my options, but hopefully, this helps if you’re also in the market for a bread maker. If you’ve tried any of these or have another favorite, let me know in the comments—your input might just help me make up my mind!

True North Strong and Free!

The 150th anniversary of Canadian Confederation was this year on July 1st! We are so lucky to live in this beautiful country, its stunning, I am still awestruck whenever we drive through the mountains, and the people we have met on our journeys around this country, it’s unreal.

Spent Canada’s 150th weekend taking in good visits with my family at my sisters place for some good food and bevvies under the stars in her and her boyfriends beautiful backyard.
Something about having a fire, watching the stars, telling a good story with a *cough* Canadian brewed *cough* beer in hand…hard to beat those summer nights.

Asian Style Short Ribs & Quinoa

I made some mouth watering short ribs last night with a fresh quinoa salad.

20170607_143556

For the short ribs I cooked them in the slow cooker for about 8 hours on low. I cooked them with:

1/4 cup of soy sauce

A couple tablespoons of brown sugar

A few cloves of garlic

And a few chili peppers

Then just covered the meat with water

The next time I cook Short Ribs I might do them in the oven instead, or take them out of the slow cooker much earlier as they were totally falling apart delicious. So I had to change my original plan which was to crisp them up on the BBQ. Instead I tossed everything in a frying pan with:

A little honey

Some brown sugar

A couple cloves of garlic

A couple tablespoons of soy sauce

And Sriracha hot sauce

For the Quinoa Salad I used:

Pre washed Quinoa

Chopped up Cucumber, Red & Yellow Peppers

One shallot

An avocado

A few green onion

Feta

Lime juice

Quinoa dressing:

A couple glugs of Olive Oil

Tsp turmeric

Tsp garlic powder

Tsp Asian five spice

A couple tablespoons of soy sauce

A couple tablespoons of chicken broth

The meal came together pretty darn good!

The meat was super tender and so flavorful. The quinoa had a nice Indian/Asian flavour to it with the turmeric and five spice, and was super fresh and delicious!  It was a perfect one bowl dinner.

The beer we had with dinner was a new one for us brewed by Stanley Park Brewing Called SunSetter Peach Wheat Ale. You can taste the peach and the beer. Not a sweet beverage by any means, but nice peach flavour. Would definitely get this brew again. Way to go Stanley Park Brewing!! Yum! Hello Summer!

My First Blog Post!

20170605_154828.jpg

My name is Leanne, and I am excited to be writing my first post on my first blog! I want this blog to be a fun place for me to go and talk about the things I love, such as Food & Beer!

I came up with the name Bread & Brewski for my blog because I love all things food, and want to experience different foods and beers from around the world. I truly believe good food & beer have a way of bringing people together and sharing happiness, and I also think beer is pretty darn awesome.

So this is my time to write about and photograph food and brews from everywhere I am. I think this is such a cool way to document my journey with my hubby and pup by my side.  Speaking of documentation…in the photo (first blog photo, so exciting!) is Lions Summer Ale by Granville Island Brewing, its crisp and fresh, and on a hot 25 degree day in the city its absolutely perfect. ( Note: I don’t make a penny mentioning any products, its just my own beer diary!)

I hope for whoever (if anyone) reads this blog enjoys it a little, maybe takes away something from it, smiles from what will probably be terrible grammar and spelling, and just understands that this is truly for good vibes.

I keep saying life is too short to not do what you want, so this is my time to start doing what I love, and enjoy the heck out of it!
